Kris Mohandie was born on July 5, 1963, in Los Angeles, California. He holds a PhD in psychology and is Board Certified in Police and Public Safety Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Mohandie built his early career at the LAPD, where he served as a full-time police psychologist. He later ran the department’s psychology unit and consulted with the Threat Management Unit, SWAT team, and Crisis Negotiation Team.
After leaving the LAPD, Mohandie transitioned into private forensic psychology consulting. He also worked with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Program and conducted extensive prison interviews with stalkers, hostage takers, serial killers, and mass murderers. Additionally, he has served as an expert witness in numerous homicide trials and is a licensed psychologist in ten states.
Mohandie’s television career began with expert contributor roles on CNN, ABC’s 20/20, NBC’s 48 Hours, BBC, and Fox News. In 2014, he stepped into a full hosting role on Season 4 of Investigation Discovery’s Most Evil. Then, in 2018, he co-hosted Breaking Homicide alongside former detective Derrick Levasseur. Beyond hosting, he has also published Evil Thoughts: Wicked Deeds, a career memoir co-written with journalist Brian Skoloff.
