Danny Dyer was born Danial John Dyer on 24 July 1977 in the Custom House area of East London, to Antony and Christine Dyer (née Meakin). His parents separated when he was nine, and he was raised by his mother; he has a younger brother, Tony, and a younger sister, Kayleigh.

He was spotted at a sunday school drama class for underprivileged children as a teenager and landed his first television role in Prime Suspect 3 at 14. He went on to build a career in film (Human Traffic, The Football Factory, Mean Machine) before joining EastEnders as Mick Carter in 2013, a role he played until 2022.

More recently, he has starred in the Sky comedy Mr. Bigstuff and the drama Rivals, and presents the BBC game show The Wall. In 2026 he co-hosts the Sky One/NOW reality series The Dyers’ Caravan Park with his daughter Dani, in which the pair renovate and run Priory Hill caravan park in Leysdown, Kent.

He married his long-term partner Joanne Mas in 2016, and the couple live in Essex with their children. He is also a grandfather to Dani’s three children.
