Ennis’s love of racing began in childhood, following in the footsteps of his father and brothers, all keen racing fans; he also has a cousin who trains racehorses in Ireland. Growing up, he regularly attended racecourses including Kempton, Ascot and Windsor.

Ennis built his broadcasting career at At The Races (under SIS), working from its London base for a number of years before moving across to Sky Sports Racing when the channel launched on 1 January 2019. Alongside horse racing, he also developed a strong interest in greyhound racing and presented coverage of that sport.

He continues to present for Sky Sports Racing, alongside other presenters including, Luke Harvey, Alex Hammond, and Jason Weaver providing tips and analysis for major race meetings. They include the Cheltenham Festival, Royal Ascot and the Grand National, and has served as a commentator for the Shergar Cup.

Ennis is a father of four sons, James, Luke, Dan and Sam — and is a supporter of Manchester United.
