Alexandra Blaire Krieger was born on July 28, 1984, in Dumfries, Virginia. Her father, a former professional soccer player and coach, introduced her to the game at age seven through the Prince William Sparklers club, where she played for 12 years. She was a standout soccer player in high school and college – Penn State University, where she earned first-team All-American honors.
After college, Krieger played soccer professionally for various clubs, including FFC Frankfurt in Germany, Washington Spirit (NWSL), Tyresö FF (Sweden), and Orlando Pride (NWSL). In her last season (2023), she captained NWSL side NJ/NY Gotham FC to a championship title. Besides club football, Krieger made 108 international appearances for the United States, winning World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019.
After retiring in 2023, Ali Krieger made her ESPN debut as the lead studio analyst for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She formally joined the network in 2024 and currently co-hosts Futbol W. She also contributes to ESPN FC, SportsCenter, and Futbol Americas, covering the NWSL, the U.S. Women’s National Team, and major international women’s soccer events.
