Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? was a one-on-one interview series hosted by Chris Wallace. It premiered on March 22, 2022, as one of the launch shows for CNN+, the network’s short-lived streaming service. CNN+ shut down about a month after launching, forcing the series to relocate. The show ultimately ran until November 15, 2024.
Each episode centered on a lengthy conversation between Wallace and a single guest. Topics ranged across news, sports, entertainment, art, and culture rather than sticking to politics alone. The format allowed Wallace to draw out longer, more personal conversations than a typical news interview allows.
The show moved networks and timeslots several times during its run. After CNN+ folded, the series moved to HBO Max, with edited episodes airing on CNN Sunday nights. Season three shifted its CNN airing to Friday nights instead. By season four, new episodes became exclusive to Max and stopped airing on CNN’s cable channel altogether.
Chris Wallace hosted every episode across the show’s five seasons. He joined CNN in 2022 following 18 years as anchor of Fox News Sunday. He also hosted the companion program The Chris Wallace Show on CNN’s linear network starting in 2023. Both of his CNN programs concluded together after he announced his departure from the network in late 2024.
The program’s guests spanned entertainers, athletes, authors, and public officials rather than just political figures. Some of the notable figures interviewed by Wallace included Larry David, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, and Ken Jennings. Ralph Macchio appeared in the series finale, which aired November 15, 2024.
