The Jim Jefferies Show

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies tackles American politics and global affairs with irreverent humor, field reporting, and zero filter.

The Jim Jefferies Show was an American late-night comedy and news satire program that premiered on Comedy Central on June 6, 2017. The show was created by Jim Jefferies, who had already built a significant international following as a stand-up comedian. The show occupied a distinctive place in Comedy Central’s late-night lineup.

Unlike many of its peers, The Jim Jefferies Show placed less emphasis on traditional celebrity interviews and more on Jefferies’ own commentary, field pieces, and correspondent segments. Jefferies would anchor each episode from behind the desk, running through the week’s biggest stories in politics and global affairs with a sharp, sardonic edge drawn from his outsider perspective as a foreign-born host commenting on American life and culture.

The show was particularly notable for Jefferies’ willingness to venture into genuinely uncomfortable territory — covering topics such as gun control, immigration, the opioid crisis, abortion access in Ireland, incel culture, and the toll of climate change. It also featured remote segments that took him around the world, including Slovenia to cover Melania Trump’s hometown and Amsterdam for a ride-along with police.

One of the show’s most talked-about and unusual recurring features was the appearance of actor Brad Pitt as the show’s unofficial weatherman. Pitt — a fan of Jefferies’ stand-up — appeared seven times across seasons one and two, playing a doom-laden meteorologist who delivered bleak, climate-change-infused forecasts in place of any actual weather reporting. Pitt was billed only as the “Jim Jefferies Show Weatherman” and was paid the SAG minimum of $400 per episode.

The show also featured Seth Rogen, who appeared in a recurring role throughout season two as Cole Kleen, and comedian Bill Burr, who made multiple guest appearances. Additionally, comedian Forrest Shaw served as a recurring on-screen contributor, and Curtis Cook appeared as a field correspondent. Jim Jefferies also co-hosted The Jim Jefferies Show Podcast with Forrest Shaw, which was released alongside the show’s final episodes of season one. The podcast served as an aftershow, offering extended commentary on news stories and jokes that didn’t make the TV cut.
