The 1% Club

Contestants face 15 brainteasers of increasing difficulty, competing to answer the question that only 1% of Americans can get right for $100,000.

The 1% Club is a breakout international hit that successfully migrated to American television in 2024. Based on the multi-award-winning British format hosted by Lee Mack, the U.S. version originally launched as a co-production between Fox and Prime Video. Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2024, with each episode also airing on Fox after its streaming debut. From Season 2 onward, Amazon stepped back, and Fox became the exclusive home of the series.

Each episode opens with 100 contestants, each holding a $1,000 stake. They face 15 logic and common sense puzzles of increasing difficulty. The show ranks the difficulty of the questions by the percentage of Americans who correctly solved them in a pre-show survey — starting with the 90% question and working down to the final 1% question.

A wrong answer eliminates that contestant. Players who make it far enough can choose to take their accumulated winnings and leave. They can also press on toward the $100,000 jackpot available to anyone who answers the final question — the one only 1% of the country can get right.

Comedian and Emmy Award winner Patton Oswalt served as The 1% Club host during the show’s debut season. Joel McHale took over from Season 2  in 2025. McHale is also known on FOX for hosting Crime Scene Kitchen and starring in the network’s comedy series, Animal Control.
