Paula’s Party

Paula Deen hosts a live-audience cooking show featuring interactive segments, family and celebrity guests, and Southern-style recipes.

Paula’s Party was a food and lifestyle program that premiered on Food Network on September 29, 2006. It marked a major shift from Deen’s earlier, quieter kitchen format. Instead of cooking alone, Deen now performed for a live crowd. The show quickly stood out for its loud, festive atmosphere.

The series was originally taped in front of a small audience at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House in Savannah, Georgia. In 2008, production moved from Savannah to the Food Network’s studios in New York City. Throughout each episode, Deen offered help to audience members facing culinary problems, often pulling guests up to cook alongside her. This interactive format gave the show a unique, party-like feel compared to typical cooking programs.

Family appearances were a hallmark of the series. Deen’s sons Jamie and Bobby Deen, her husband Michael Groover, and even her brother Bubba Hiers all made regular appearances on the show. Celebrity guests also dropped by occasionally to cook alongside Deen. This blend of family, food, and audience energy sets the show apart from her other cooking programs.

Compared to her other Food Network shows, Paula’s Party is not as popular. However, it offered a livelier and more personality-driven side of Deen. The series ran for two years before concluding in 2008. It paved the way for Deen’s next show, Paula’s Best Dishes, which debuted that same year.
