MSNBC Live with Kate Snow was a daytime news and talk program that aired on the MSNBC cable network. It premiered in September 2015 as part of a broader network strategy to shift away from opinion-based daytime programming in favor of traditional hard news. The show officially concluded its run in April 2017 when Kate Snow transitioned to a full-time role as a Senior National Correspondent for NBC News and the Sunday anchor of NBC Nightly News.
The program’s format was designed to be fast-paced and information-heavy, typically occupying the 3:00 p.m. ET hour. It utilized the extensive resources of the NBC News division, often featuring live field reports from correspondents stationed around the globe. A hallmark of the show was its “deep dive” segments into social issues and political developments, providing viewers with more context than a standard headline summary.
The “MSNBC Live” branding served as a blanket title for daytime news until 2021, when the network began naming individual hours after their hosts (e.g., Katy Tur Reports). More recently, in November 2025, the entire network rebranded as MS NOW, separating its operations from the NBCUniversal News Group to focus on a new era of independent newsgathering.
Kate Snow was the sole permanent host of the program throughout its duration. Her background as a veteran journalist at ABC and CNN allowed her to lead the show with an authoritative and balanced tone. Since the conclusion of her MSNBC program, Snow has remained a prominent figure at NBC, currently co-anchoring the daytime program NBC News Daily.
