Lost and Found in the Lakes

Lost and Found in the Lakes is a daytime factual series that follows a team of specialists as they search the scenic Lake District to recover treasured items people have lost in lakes, forests, and fells. Each episode focuses on real‑life searches using divers, detectorists, magnet fishers, and even social media detectives to locate and recover these lost possessions, before attempting to reunite them with their owners.

Along the way the show mixes suspense, emotive personal stories, and beautiful landscapes, presenting both dramatic recoveries and creative solutions for unclaimed items. The programme also highlights the emotional connections people have with their belongings and the unexpected stories that emerge during the search process.

The series is presented by Helen Skelton, a British television presenter known for her previous work on Blue Peter and other BBC programmes. On Lost and Found in the Lakes, Skelton leads the expert team, bringing enthusiasm and empathy as they explore the Lake District to recover lost treasures and reunite them with their owners. Her connection to the area and genuine interest in the human stories behind each find adds warmth and personality to the show.

Across its first series, which premiered in January 2025, the team undertook memorable missions such as rescuing a drone from the depths of Lake Windermere that contained irreplaceable wedding photos, showcasing the lengths the crew will go to help people reclaim precious memories.

The format blends elements of adventure, human interest, and craftsmanship: while some recovered items are returned to grateful owners, others that remain unclaimed receive inventive makeovers from local craftspeople, giving forgotten objects new life and stories.
