Crime Scene Kitchen is an American reality television series that premiered on FOX in 2021. The show is produced by FOX Alternative Entertainment and Fly on the Wall Entertainment, and is one of the network’s most original unscripted formats. As of early 2026, the series has completed three successful seasons and remains a key part of FOX’s unscripted lineup.
The show’s format is a blend of mystery and baking. Each episode sends teams of two bakers into a “crime scene” kitchen where a dessert has already been made and removed. Contestants examine crumbs, trails, tools, and clues to deduce the type of dessert that was prepared. After gathering their theories, teams must recreate the dessert from scratch.
Each episode typically unfolds in two rounds. The first is the Safety Bake, where the winning team earns immunity from elimination. The second round, known as the Elimination Bake, sends the weakest team home. Judges first assess each recreated dessert for how closely it matches the mystery item, then for taste and presentation.
The series is hosted by actor and comedian Joel McHale, who also serves as an executive producer. The panel of judges includes celebrity chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, both of whom evaluate the teams’ recreations and determine performance outcomes.
