America’s Got Talent

America’s Got Talent premiered on NBC in 2006 as part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is a unique talent search competition with no age or category restrictions, featuring a wide range of acts, including singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, acrobats, and novelty performers. This open-format approach has made the show one of television’s most inclusive competition series

Contestants advance through auditions, live shows, and finals, with performances judged by a rotating panel of industry figures. The most exceptional acts receive a Golden Buzzer, which sends them directly to the live performance rounds in Hollywood. The judging panel has evolved over time, but Simon Cowell has remained a central figure since joining in 2016. Other notable judges include Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel.

The hosting role has also changed throughout the series. Former hosts include Nick Cannon and Tyra Banks, while Terry Crews has served as host since 2019. His energetic style and audience connection have become a defining feature of the show’s current era.

America’s Got Talent has launched several highly successful careers, with standout acts achieving Las Vegas residencies, massive viral fame, and international tours. Key success stories includeventriloquist Terry Fator (who signed a $100M deal), magician Mat Franco, singer Grace VanderWaal, and viral sensation Kodi Lee.
