Walid Saad was born in July 1980. He is of Lebanese origin and later settled in the United Kingdom, where he built a career in retail banking and capital markets before discovering his passion for mechanical typewriters.

Until 2014, Walid and JouJou had never touched a typewriter. Then Walid came across one by accident and the rest is history. They proudly started from the bottom — their first typewriter was cleaned and serviced on a kitchen worktop using a screwdriver borrowed from a friend.

In 2016, they launched Mr & Mrs Vintage Typewriters, turning the kitchen-table hobby into the world’s leading vintage typewriter restoration studio.

In November 2018, Walid and JouJou were invited as typewriter guest experts to film an episode of The Repair Shop at the Weald & Downland Living Museum in Chichester, restoring a Pre-War Corona 3 Typewriter. They subsequently filmed two further episodes for broadcast in 2024 and 2025. The couple share two children and are based in Milton Keynes, where their fully equipped restoration workshop is located.
