Vladimir Duthiers was born on December 21, 1969, in New York City to Haitian immigrant parents. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he was active in ROTC, the student newspaper, and campus radio. After graduating in 1991, he spent 18 years in investment management — most recently as managing director at AllianceBernstein, overseeing global investment initiatives for clients across 21 countries. At age 37, inspired by a quote attributed to Saint Augustine, he left finance to pursue journalism.
Duthiers enrolled at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and joined CNN in 2009, initially as a production assistant. During his stint at CNN, he covered the 2010 earthquake, earning his first Emmy as part of CNN’s coverage team. He also won a Peabody Award for his coverage of Boko Haram’s kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls.
Duthiers Joined CBS News in 2014 as a correspondent and has since risen to co-anchor of CBS Mornings and CBS News 24/7. Off the air, he is married to Marian Wang, a senior news producer at Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The couple has one daughter, born in January 2023.
