A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Tregaye Fraser discovered her passion for the culinary arts while cooking alongside her grandmother. She formalized her training at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, where she mastered a fusion style that blends technical precision with youthful creativity. Before her mainstream breakthrough, she honed her skills as a restaurant consultant and personal chef, developing a reputation for transforming everyday ingredients into high-end fusion dishes.

Fraser’s television career skyrocketed in 2016 when she became the first African American woman to win Food Network Star. This victory led to her hosting role on The Kitchen Sink, a series focused on culinary trends and kitchen hacks, as well as her own show, Tregaye’s Way, on the OWN Network. She has remained a staple of the Food Network family, appearing as a regular on Best Thing I Ever Ate and hosting the 2021 discovery+ original series Cakealikes.

In her personal life, Fraser is a dedicated mother and wife who resides in Atlanta. She runs Chef Tregaye & Company — a private catering and consulting firm serving corporate and private clients — and is the co-owner of the Auburn Angel restaurant in Atlanta, which she opened in 2025. She is also the founder of the non-profit “Playing The Game Tour Inc.,” which aims to inspire youth through healthy cooking education and mentorship.
