Tina Heath was born in England in 1953. Public records confirm her year of birth, although details about her exact birthplace, parents, and early family life have not been widely published.
Her television career began in 1969 when she appeared on the BBC comedy programme Broaden Your Mind. She subsequently acted in several productions including Z-Cars, Jane Eyre, Churchill’s People, and the children’s fantasy series Lizzie Dripping, in which she played the title role.
In 1976, Heath moved into presenting on BBC One’s The Sunday Gang. During her time on the programme she met musician and musical director Dave Cooke, who later became her husband.
On 5 April 1979, she joined Blue Peter on BBC One. During her 14-month tenure she became the first serving Blue Peter presenter to become pregnant and famously documented part of her pregnancy on the programme. She left in June 1980 before the birth of her daughter.
Heath later stepped back from high-profile television work and has largely maintained a private family life. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her husband launched The Home Service podcast.
