Edward “Teddy” Draper was born in June 1981 in Hackney, London. His media career began in 2003 in the USA, while he was earning a Master’s in Journalism at Ohio University, where he anchored the local TV sports news, commentated on radio and wrote for several local papers. His parents and early family background are not publicly documented.
Before journalism, Draper studied at Loughborough University, earning a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. After his postgraduate studies in Ohio, he returned to England in 2005 and has since worked for the BBC, MUTV, IMG and Virgin/Absolute Radio, among other outlets. He joined Absolute Radio in September 2008, presenting sports bulletins on the breakfast show and co-hosting the Rock ‘N’ Roll Sport Podcast with Russ Williams until 2012, then joined TalkSport from February 2012 to 2013.
Since 2007, Teddy has worked as a presenter at Sky, including Sky News, Sky Sports News and digital content including the boxing podcast Toe-2-Toe and MMA YouTube shows. He also wrote feature articles on boxing and MMA for Sky Sports’ website. He also hosted and played the role of announcer during the boxing at the 2012 Olympics in London at the ExCeL — announcing Anthony Joshua as Olympic Champion — which he describes as a very special day.
He and Jasper Taylor are Sky stalwarts who graduated from production roles to presenting, spending 18 and 11 years respectively at the broadcaster. Outside of broadcasting, Teddy launched The Triple Tonic, a personal training offering based in the Gloucestershire hills above Cheltenham, combining outdoor fitness with his qualified PT credentials. He lives in Gloucestershire with his wife Carla and their family.
