Suzie Fletcher was born in Oxfordshire, England, around 1962, though her exact date of birth is not publicly confirmed. Her parents influenced her creative path—her mother was skilled in clothing design, while her father was a watchmaker.
She began training as a saddler in the mid-1970s as a teenager and built a career spanning more than four decades in leatherwork and restoration. She later moved to the United States, where she lived for over 20 years working in the saddlery trade and ranching environment.
After the death of her husband in 2013, she returned to the UK and rebuilt her life and career.
Fletcher joined The Repair Shop on BBC Two (later BBC One) in its early series, becoming the show’s resident leather expert. She restores sentimental heirlooms such as saddles, bags, and leather furniture, and also appears in spin-offs including The Repair Shop: On the Road on BBC One.
