Steve Levy is an American television host and veteran sportscaster whose career at ESPN spans more than three decades. Born in New York City and raised in Bellmore, New York, he attended the State University of New York at Oswego, where he studied communications. Levy began his broadcast career in the mid-1980s at WFAN in New York, the nation’s first all-sports radio station. He also worked for MSG Network before joining ESPN in August 1993.
At ESPN, Levy has become one of the network’s most adaptable play-by-play voices. He called NHL games for ESPN from the beginning of his tenure, earning a reputation as one of hockey’s sharpest commentators. In addition to commentating, he is also a regular anchor on SportsCentre and the lead studio host for ABC Hockey Saturday.
Besides Hockey, Steve Levy has covered college football and again served as the lead voice for the XFL. In 2020, he was named the primary Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer, before being succeeded by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in 2022. On top of that, he has hosted the post-Super Bowl edition of SportsCentre for more than a decade.
