Sarah-Jane Mee was born on 10 July 1978 in Birmingham, England. Her parents, Lynda and Tom, design and build kitchens. She has a younger sister named Victoria. Though she has kept most of her family life private, she has spoken openly about her career journey and her experiences as a working mother.
After finishing her studies at the University of Manchester, Mee started her career at Sky Sports, beginning behind the scenes as a runner, then moving to the planning desk before becoming a producer. In 2002 she joined ITV Central, presenting sport on Central News West and later anchoring the main news programme, as well as hosting the pan-regional show Soccer Monday, becoming the face of sport for ITV in the Midlands.
She also co-presented the final season of ITV’s Pulling Power with Mike Brewer and Edd China, and began a radio career in 2006 when she stood in for the Ed James Breakfast Show on 100.7 Heart FM, eventually becoming a regular host from January 2007. In January 2008 she left Central Television and Heart FM to rejoin Sky Sports, joining the UEFA Champions League team alongside Richard Keys, and later co-presenting Cricket AM from May 2009.
From October 2016 to October 2019 she anchored Sunrise on Sky News, and since October 2019 she has presented The Sarah-Jane Mee Show, airing Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 5pm. Mee married Ben Richardson in 2022, and they have a daughter, Rae Brenda Richardson, born in June 2020. She is also stepmother to Richardson’s son from a previous relationship.
