Sara Haines is an American television host and journalist best known for her work on daytime talk shows and morning television. She grew up in Newton, Iowa, one of four siblings in what she describes as a conservative household. She later attended Smith College, where she earned a degree in government, before moving to New York with the intention of pursuing a career as a comedy actress.
To support her acting pursuits, Haines joined the NBC Page Program and later worked as a production coordinator for Today while still trying to break into comedy. Over time, she transitioned to on-camera roles as a correspondent for Today. In 2013, she joined ABC News as a pop news anchor and correspondent for Good Morning America.
Sarah Haines later joined The View as a permanent co-host, before leaving in 2018 to co-host the third hour of Good Morning America. She then returned to The View in 2020, where she has remained a fixture ever since. In 2021, she added hosting duties on ABC’s revival of the British quiz show The Chase. More recently, she joined the hidden-camera show, What Would You Do?, as a correspondent and co-host, alongside host John Quiñones.
