Saf Fakir was born in April 1980. He is from Thornbury, Bradford, and studied industrial design at Keighley College and Huddersfield University before following in his father’s footsteps to become a joiner. His parents’ names are not publicly available, though his father’s influence in the joinery trade is well documented.
Based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Saf creates bespoke wooden furniture with a distinct blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. He incorporated Fakir Woodworks Ltd on 6 March 2019, with the registered office in Bradford, West Yorkshire. He previously also operated under JXR Design and Build and JXR Woodworks.
Saf was a mentor on BBC Two’s Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop, presented by The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades, filmed in Little Germany, Bradford, in 2021. In 2022, he was one of the experts on Quest’s Kings of the Wood, a programme following highly skilled woodworkers who create bespoke furniture for worthy recipients.
