Roman Zidane Kemp was born on 28 January 1993 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is the son of musician and actor Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman. He grew up mainly in Hertfordshire, England, with his older sister Harley Moon Kemp. Pop legend George Michael was his godfather.
Kemp was educated at Berkhamsted School in Hertfordshire and developed an interest in music and media from a young age. As a teenager he briefly pursued music, signing a deal with Universal Music before turning toward presenting and broadcasting.
He began building his media career in the mid-2010s, appearing on youth and entertainment programmes before becoming a presenter on Capital FM. From 2017 to 2024, he hosted the network’s Capital Breakfast show, making him one of the UK’s best-known radio personalities.
Kemp later expanded into television presenting, appearing on shows such as The Finish Line and documentaries about mental health. He also competed in 2019’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! finishing third, which significantly boosted his public profile.
He currently appears as a presenter on The One Show, a weekday magazine programme broadcast on BBC One, while continuing to work on podcasts and television projects.
