Rob Lowe is an American actor, television host, producer, podcast host, and two-time New York Times bestselling author. Born on March 17, 1964, he began acting at age 15 in the ABC sitcom A New Kind of Family and rose to international fame as a member of the 1980s Brat Pack, starring in The Outsiders (1983), St. Elmo’s Fire (1985), and About Last Night (1986). 

Lowe successfully transitioned to television in the late 1990s, earning critical acclaim for his role as Sam Seaborn on The West Wing. Since then, he has appeared in several TV roles, including Parks and Recreation, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and Code Black. 

In 2019, Lowe began hosting FOX’s competition series, Mental Samurai, which he also produced. Since 2024, he has served as the host of the trivia game show, The Floor. Beyond his acting and TV career, Lowe is married to interior designer and jeweler Sheryl, with whom he has two sons, both of whom are active in the entertainment industry. He is also a committed sobriety advocate, having been sober since 1990.
