Rob Brydon was born 3 May 1965 in Baglan, Glamorgan, Wales. His parents are Joy Brydon Jones, a schoolteacher, and Howard Jones, a car dealer. He grew up in South Wales with his younger brother Peter and developed an early interest in comedy and impressions.
He attended St John’s School in Porthcawl, Dumbarton House School in Swansea, and later Porthcawl Comprehensive School. After school, he briefly studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama but left after one year to begin a broadcasting career.
Brydon started his career in the mid-1980s as a disc jockey on BBC Radio Wales, later moving into voice-over work and small television roles. His breakthrough came in 2000 with the BBC mockumentary Marion and Geoff, followed by Human Remains and The Keith Barret Show.
He became widely recognized for playing Uncle Bryn in the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey and for hosting the comedy panel show Would I Lie to You? on BBC One. He also starred alongside Steve Coogan in the comedy travel series The Trip.
Brydon lives in Strawberry Hill, London, with his wife Clare Holland and their children. He continues to work in television, film, radio, and live comedy.
