Rohan Christopher is an Australian cheesemonger and distiller whose early life details, including his date of birth, parents, and upbringing — are not publicly documented. He and his then-partner Banjo bought a one-way ticket to Sri Lanka and kept travelling, eventually following their noses to the Isle of Mull Cheese Farm.

Ro told Banjo about his dream to become a cheesemaker in Scotland, which led them to the Isle of Mull. They ended up at Isle of Mull Cheese, a traditional family-run dairy farm, where they met Chris Reade and formed a deep bond with her. She gave them advice and jobs, and eventually asked them to help reopen her café. Ro became the cook and bookkeeper, while Banjo styled the café’s offerings.

Ro manages the production of award-winning cheese and is working with the family on a distillery, while Banjo helps on the farm and in the café when not working on interiors.

Banjo and Ro’s Grand Island Hotel on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer follows the couple, along with their dog Grampa, as they transform a derelict mansion on the island of Ulva into a boutique hotel. The six-episode first series began airing on 5 January 2026 on BBC Scotland, with episodes airing on Mondays at 10pm. Banjo and Ro have lived on a farm for over a decade, along with their dog Grampa, two pigs Kath and Kim, and a flock of ducks.
