Richard McCourt was born on 12 August 1976 in Sheffield, England. He began his media career in local and hospital radio before moving into television presenting in the early 1990s.

He rose to prominence alongside Dominic Wood as part of the duo “Dick and Dom,” initially presenting CBBC’s “Broom Cupboard” segments. Their breakthrough came with Dick & Dom in da Bungalow (2002–2006), broadcast on CBBC and BBC One, which became a BAFTA-winning children’s show.

McCourt later co-presented multiple shows including Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old? (Sky One) and Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom (CBBC, 2013–2016), a science-focused series aimed at younger audiences.

Beyond television, he has worked in radio, film, live performances, and DJing at festivals.

He currently lives with his partner Katrina Bryan, with whom he shares a child, maintaining a relatively private family life.
