Philip Serrell was born on 27 March 1954 in Kidderminster, England. Growing up on a farm in Worcestershire, he developed an early interest in property and auctions.
He began his professional career in estate agency before moving into auctioneering, eventually becoming a chartered surveyor. He later established his own auction business, gaining a reputation in property and antiques sales.
Serrell transitioned into television in the early 2000s, becoming a familiar face on BBC antiques programmes. He gained prominence as an expert on Bargain Hunt on BBC One, where his humour and distinctive presenting style made him a fan favourite.
He has also appeared on Antiques Road Trip, Flog It!, and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, expanding his presence across BBC daytime television.
He continues to live in Worcestershire with his family, balancing his broadcasting career with auctioneering and writing.
