Pamela Brown was born on November 29, 1983, in Lexington, Kentucky, to former Kentucky governor John Y. Brown Jr. and Phyllis George, a former Miss America who became one of the first women to co-host an NFL pregame show. She studied broadcast journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, reporting for the school’s student news program, Carolina Week, before starting her career at ABC7/WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C.

At ABC7, Brown became a Sunday evening anchor and earned an Emmy nomination for her investigative reporting, including a year-long project on sex trafficking in Northern Virginia. She joined CNN in 2013 as a national correspondent, then moved into the network’s justice beat in 2014, covering the U.S. Supreme Court and federal law enforcement. From 2018, she served as senior White House correspondent during the Trump administration, reporting on two impeachments and the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brown took over CNN Newsroom’s weekend edition in 2021 and launched her own weekday program, The Bulletin with Pamela Brown, in 2023. In March 2025, she moved into mornings as co-anchor of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown, becoming the first person to share that anchor desk with Blitzer since the show began in 2005. She continues to lead CNN’s investigative unit alongside her anchoring duties.
