Nick Robinson was born on 5 October 1963 in Macclesfield, England. His father was a senior civil servant, and his upbringing influenced his interest in politics and public affairs.
He was educated at Cheadle Hulme School before studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at University of Oxford. During his university years, he was active in student politics, including serving as president of the Oxford Union.
Robinson began his journalism career in the 1980s, working for ITN and later joining the BBC. He rose to prominence as BBC Political Editor from 2005 to 2015, covering major UK political events including general elections and leadership contests.
He later became a presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and launched Political Thinking with Nick Robinson, where he interviews political figures in depth. The show airs on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Two.
He lives in London with his family and continues to work as a leading BBC broadcaster and political interviewer.
