Nick Jenkins was born on 13 May 1967 in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, England. He was educated at Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School before studying at the University of Birmingham and later completing an MBA at Cranfield University.
After graduating, he worked as a commodity trader in Moscow for Glencore for several years, saving money to start his own business. He later returned to the UK to pursue further studies and entrepreneurship.
In 2000, Jenkins founded Moonpig, an online greeting card company that became highly successful. He sold the business in 2011 for around £120 million, establishing his wealth and reputation as a leading entrepreneur.
He joined Dragons’ Den (BBC Two/BBC One) as an investor in 2015, appearing in series 13 and 14. During his time, he invested in several startups before leaving the show in 2017 to focus on his business ventures.
Jenkins continues to work as an investor and supports charitable and educational initiatives, maintaining a relatively private personal life.
