Nadiya Hussain was born on 25 December 1984 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England to Bangladeshi parents. Her father was a chef and restaurant owner, which influenced her interest in food.
She attended Challney High School and Luton Sixth Form College, learning basic cooking skills at school before teaching herself baking through books and online resources.
Hussain rose to national fame after winning The Great British Bake Off in 2015, which launched her television career. She went on to present several BBC food series and become a bestselling author.
She hosts Nadiya’s Simple Spices, on BBC One and Two, where she demonstrates how to cook flavourful meals using just eight key spices.
Hussain lives in the UK with her husband and children and continues to work as a chef, writer, and broadcaster, with a strong focus on family cooking and cultural heritage.
