Monica Galetti was born on 26 August 1975 in Samoa and later moved to New Zealand, where she was raised. Her parents encouraged a strong work ethic, and she developed an early interest in cooking inspired by family life.

She trained as a chef in New Zealand and began her professional career there before relocating to London. In 1999, she joined the renowned restaurant Le Gavroche, working under Michel Roux Jr., eventually rising to senior sous chef.

Galetti gained national recognition through television, becoming a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals on BBC One in 2009. Her expertise and direct judging style made her a standout figure on the show.

She later co-founded the restaurant Mere in London with her husband, further establishing her culinary reputation.

Galetti lives in London with her family and continues to balance her restaurant, television, and media work.
