Mike Greenberg was born on August 6, 1967, in New York City. He attended Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School, graduating with a degree in journalism in 1989. After college, he began working as a sports anchor and reporter at WMAQ-AM radio in Chicago. From there, he built his early résumé across several Chicago outlets — WSCR Radio, SportsChannel Chicago, and CLTV — before ESPN came calling in 1996.
Greenberg joined ESPN as one of the original anchors of ESPNEWS and later became a regular face on SportsCenter. Then, in January 2000, he teamed up with Mike Golic to launch Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio. The duo hosted Mike & Mike for 17 years, earning a Sports Emmy and induction into both the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame and the National Radio Hall of Fame.
He left the show in 2017 and, shortly after, joined ESPN’s morning TV show Get Up in April 2018. Additionally, in August 2024, he was named host of Sunday NFL Countdown, adding to his existing role hosting ESPN’s annual NFL Draft coverage. Beyond his TV career, Greenberg has authored several New York Times bestselling books and is a devoted New York Jets fan.
