Michelle McManus was born on 8 May 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland, and grew up in the Baillieston area of the city. She is the eldest of five daughters born to John and Helen McManus.
McManus rose to national fame in 2003 when she won the second and final series of the ITV singing competition Pop Idol. Her debut single “All This Time” immediately topped the UK Singles Chart, making her the first Scottish female artist to debut at number one with a first single.
After her early music success, McManus expanded into television and media. She became a co-presenter of the STV lifestyle programme The Hour in 2009 and later hosted various Scottish entertainment programmes and specials.
In recent years, she has continued working in broadcasting and music. She hosts the entertainment programme The Entertainment Mix on the BBC Scotland channel and also presents a weekday afternoon radio show on BBC Radio Scotland. McManus lives in Scotland with her husband and their children while balancing television, radio, and music work.
