Melissa Peterman is an American actress, comedian, and television host. Born in Edina, Minnesota, she studied theatre at Minnesota State University, Mankato, before immersing herself in the Minneapolis improv scene. After college, she began performing at the renowned Brave New Workshop comedy theater in Minneapolis.
Peterman gained national recognition in 2001 when she was cast as Barbra Jean Booker Hart in the sitcom Reba alongside Reba McEntire. Her energetic and eccentric performance made the character a fan favorite throughout the show’s six-season run. The role also established her as a recognizable comedic television personality.
Following the success of Reba, Peterman expanded her career into television hosting and guest appearances. She has hosted and co-hosted several entertainment and game shows, including Bet on Your Baby, The Singing Bee, and Dancing Fools. Since 2022, she has hosted the syndicated game show Person, Place or Thing. In addition to hosting, pursue her acting career, having played Bonnie Wheeler in Baby Daddy, Brenda Sparks in Young Sheldon, and Gabby in NBC’s Happy’s Place.
