Mayim Bialik is an American television personality, actress, neuroscientist, and author. Born on December 12, 1975, in San Diego, California, she gained early fame as a child actress, starring in the 1988 film “Beaches” and the hit series “Blossom. However, she stepped away from the spotlight at the peak of her early fame to pursue higher education. Bialik attended UCLA, where she earned a Bachelor of Science and eventually a Ph.D. in Neuroscience.
Bialik returned to acting in 2010 with a guest appearance on “The Big Bang Theory,” which evolved into a decade-long role. In 2021, she was named as co-host of Jeopardy! alongside Ken Jennings, following Alex Trebek’s death. Her hosting duties also extended to the franchise’s primetime specials and spinoffs, including Celebrity Jeopardy!. She remained on the franchise until 2023, when Ken Jennings took over as the sole permanent host.
In addition to acting and TV hosting, Mayim Bialik has done some work behind the scenes, having written and directed the 2022 film, As They Made Us. She also executive-produced the Fox sitcom, Call Me Kat, in which she also plays the lead role. Additionally, she is an author with several published works, including two New York Times bestsellers.
