Matt Winer began his television career after graduating from the University of Missouri with a journalism degree in 1991. He worked at KTVQ in Billings, WJTV in Jackson, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, and KSDK in St. Louis before joining ESPN in 2001. His early national assignments included ESPNEWS, SportsCenter, and several college and professional sports programs.

At ESPN, Winer hosted NBA Fastbreak, College Football Scoreboard, and other studio programming while anchoring SportsCenter. He joined Turner Sports in January 2010, becoming an NBA TV studio host and taking on broader assignments across TBS and TNT. His Turner work included MLB studio coverage on TBS, NBA programming, NASCAR, PGA Tour coverage, and NCAA basketball studio work.

Winer spent 2010–2025 with Turner Sports and became a familiar presence across NBA TV’s studio coverage. He also hosted Beyond the Paint and filled in on Inside the NBA, while contributing to major basketball events and international competitions. In 2025, he joined FanDuel Sports Network Southeast as the Hawks LIVE pregame and postgame host and road-game sideline reporter.
