Martin Geissler was born in 1971 in Scotland. Public information about his parents is not widely available.

He began his journalism career in the early 1990s, working with Sky News and regional television before joining ITN. As a foreign correspondent, he reported on major global events including the Iraq War, the Asian tsunami, and Hurricane Katrina.

Geissler joined BBC Scotland in 2019 as a presenter on The Nine. He later became the launch presenter of The Sunday Show (2021–2025), a political programme broadcast on BBC One Scotland, BBC Scotland, and BBC Radio Scotland.

In 2025, he became the host of Scotcast, a BBC Scotland current affairs podcast available on BBC Sounds, BBC Scotland TV, and radio platforms.

He lives in Muckhart, Clackmannanshire, with his family and is known to support Heart of Midlothian Football Club.
