Mark Hill was born in 1975 in the United Kingdom. He is the son of Roger Hill, a former Formula One chief mechanic, and developed an early interest in collecting and antiques.

He was educated at Cranmore Preparatory School and the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, before studying History of Art & Architecture at the University of Reading.

Hill began his career in 1996 at Bonhams auction house as a porter, later becoming a cataloguer. He then worked at Sotheby’s as a specialist in collectibles before moving into publishing and online auction services.

He gained national recognition as an expert on Antiques Roadshow on BBC One (from 2007) and later joined Antiques Road Trip (BBC One), where he travels across the UK valuing and buying antiques.

He lives in London with his partner and continues to work as a dealer, author, lecturer, and broadcaster, also running his own antiques business.
