Lindsey Russell was born on 25 September 1990 in Brussels, Belgium. She is from Oxford and has two brothers — one older and one younger. Details about her parents’ occupations are not publicly available.
Lindsey graduated from the University of Bristol with a joint-honours degree in French and Drama. She was involved in UBTV, the student-run television station, and built her presenting showreel through over 20 videos on YouTube. She also taught French children and presented workshops for the National Youth Theatre.
Lindsey won the role of Blue Peter presenter shortly after graduating, beating 20,000 applicants in the Blue Peter – You Decide! competition, judged by Eamonn Holmes and Myleene Klass. She became the show’s 36th presenter, co-hosting on CBBC from 2013 to 2021. She left Blue Peter on 15 July 2021, breaking a world record for the fastest time to dress in cricket whites on her final show.
In 2025, Lindsey launched a foodie Instagram account, @goodplates_, with her husband, stage and screen actor Fred Haig, showcasing the best food and drink spots in London and beyond.
