Laura Miller is a Scottish broadcast journalist born in Glasgow, Scotland. She grew up in Milton of Campsie in East Dunbartonshire and developed an interest in journalism after initially studying law.
She studied at the University of Glasgow, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in Scots Law and French. Later she pursued journalism, earning a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism with distinction from University College Falmouth in Cornwall in 2007.
After graduating, Miller began her broadcasting career with STV News in 2007, working as a reporter, producer, and eventually news presenter on STV News at Six. During this period she reported on major events including the London Olympics, the Scottish independence referendum, and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
In 2018 she joined BBC Scotland as a consumer affairs correspondent. In 2019 she became a presenter on The Nine and later replaced veteran broadcaster Jackie Bird as a main anchor on Reporting Scotland. She currently hosts the programme Monday to Wednesday and also contributes to the BBC’s Scottish news podcast Scotcast.
Miller lives in Edinburgh with her husband, who works as a school teacher, and their daughter.
