Kirsten Ramsay was born around 1975 in the United Kingdom. Her parents’ identities are not widely documented, but she grew up with an interest in craft and conservation.
She studied ceramics conservation at West Dean College in West Sussex, earning a postgraduate diploma in the restoration of ceramics and related materials. During her training, she completed internships at institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and Brighton Museum.
After graduating, Ramsay worked in the Ceramics Conservation department at the British Museum, gaining professional experience in preserving historic objects. In 1995, she established her own conservation business in Sussex, specialising in the restoration of European and Oriental ceramics.
She joined The Repair Shop when it launched in 2017 on BBC Two (later BBC One), becoming the resident ceramics expert. She also appears in spin-offs such as The Repair Shop: On the Road on BBC One.
Ramsay lives in Sussex and continues to run her restoration business alongside her television career.
