Kevin Weekes

Profile Overview

Kevin Weekes is a Canadian television host, broadcaster, and former professional hockey goaltender who has become one of the most recognizable voices in hockey media. Born in Ontario to  Barbadian immigrants, Weekes developed a passion for hockey from a young age. He made his NHL debut in 1997 and went on to play for several teams, including the Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, and New York Rangers. 

Weekes retired from professional hockey in 2009, after which he transitioned to a career in media. That same year, he became the first Black analyst in hockey history, joining Hockey Night in Canada. He went on to serve as a studio analyst and colour commentator for CBC and NHL Network. 

Kevin Weekes joined ESPN in 2021 as an analyst for NHL on ESPN. He was also involved in the network’s coverage of the 2021 NHL Draft and NHL Expansion Draft. On top of that, he has been part of the ABC hockey broadcast team and currently serves as an analyst and occasional studio host for ABC Hockey Saturday.
