Kendra Andrews was born in Oakland, California, the younger sister of ESPN host Malika Andrews. She grew up a Golden State Warriors fan and attended Head-Royce School, where she had the opportunity to shadow the Associated Press’s sportswriter Janie McCauley during her senior year. She then enrolled at Gonzaga University, where she pursued a degree in journalism.
After college, Andrews joined The Athletic to cover the Denver Nuggets. In January 2021, she returned to the Bay Area as the Warriors reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area. There she also co-hosted the Dubs Talk podcast and joined the network’s Warriors TV panel. ESPN hired her in January 2022 to cover the Warriors, in addition to writing for ESPN.com and reporting on SportsCenter and NBA Today.
Andrews duties have expanded to covering women’s basketball for ESPN. In April 2026, she joined her sister Malika on ESPN’s WNBA Expansion Draft special. There, she offered reporting on the expansion teams, free agency, and the upcoming draft. In October 2026, her coverage followed the Golden State Valkyries into their first WNBA semifinals.
