Keith Downie was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 1982. He began his journalism career locally in Scotland, reportedly starting with radio phone-ins during university and later working at the Wishaw Press, a local newspaper.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Napier University (1999–2003) and has previously worked at ESPN, SFL TV, STV Group, and News UK before joining Sky.

He is now Sky Sports News’s North East reporter, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, covering Newcastle United, Sunderland AFC, and Middlesbrough FC.

He is widely known for breaking regional transfer news and has built a large social media following (around 244K on X and 29K on Instagram) through his coverage of major stories, including Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win and high-profile transfer sagas such as Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool.
