Katie Razzall was born 31 October 1970 in Wandsworth, London, England. She is the daughter of Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall, a Liberal Democrat politician, and Elizabeth Wilkinson. Her parents separated when she was young, and she grew up mainly in London.
In 2014, she joined the BBC as a special correspondent for Newsnight and was promoted to UK Editor in 2019. She occasionally presented the programme and covered major national stories.
In 2021, she became the BBC Culture Editor, and in 2023 she also took on the role of Media Editor, reporting on the arts, media industry, and cultural developments across BBC platforms.
She is currently hosting The Media Show with Ros Atkins, a programme capturing and unpacking the ongoing revolution in media.
