Julie Wilson Nimmo was born on 26th May 1972 in Scotland. She grew up with an interest in performing arts and pursued acting from a young age.

She became widely known for playing Miss Hoolie in the popular children’s TV series Balamory, which brought her national recognition. She later appeared in comedy and drama productions, including the BBC Scotland series Scot Squad.

In 2023, she co-created and presented Jules and Greg’s Wild Swim alongside her husband, Greg Hemphill. The show airs on BBC Scotland, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer, and follows the couple exploring wild swimming locations across Scotland.

The programme documents their travels, personal experiences, and the benefits of cold-water swimming, while also featuring stories from other swimmers.

She lives in Scotland with her family and continues to work in television, radio, and acting while maintaining a relatively private personal life.
