JouJou Saad is of British-Lebanese nationality. Her exact date of birth, parents, and early personal background are not publicly available. Until 2014, JouJou and her husband Walid had never touched a typewriter. Then Walid came across one by accident and the rest is history.

Together they dedicated themselves to reviving the charm, functionality, and soul of cherished mechanical writing tools, with every machine undergoing meticulous, hands-on care — stripping, cleaning, calibrating, lubricating, and testing.

In 2016, the British-Lebanese couple launched Mr & Mrs Vintage Typewriters. Since starting, they have sold, repaired, and restored more than 5,000 typewriters for editors, journalists, historians, musicians, scriptwriters, producers, scientists, typewriter collectors, and private individuals across 67 countries.

JouJou is the couple’s specialist in typewriter decals, the delicate gold lettering and decorative transfers that define a machine’s appearance. On their first Repair Shop episode, she used a heat gun rather than a hair dryer to successfully apply the Corona 3’s gold decals under significant time pressure.

In November 2018, JouJou and Walid were invited as typewriter guest experts to film an episode of The Repair Shop at the Weald & Downland Living Museum in Chichester. Their reputation reached national and international acclaim when the BBC’s BAFTA-winning programme invited them as its trusted typewriter specialists. JouJou has appeared in three episodes of The Repair Shop between 2019 and 2025. The couple is based in Milton Keynes and keep their family life largely private.
