José Andrés

José Andrés is a world-renowned Spanish-American chef, humanitarian, and television personality. Born on July 13, 1969, in Mieres, Asturias, Spain, he enrolled in culinary school in Barcelona at age 15 and later trained under legendary chef Ferran Adrià at the influential restaurant elBulli. In 1991, Andrés moved to the United States, where he helped introduce authentic Spanish cuisine to American diners and built a successful restaurant career.

Over the following decades, Andrés became one of the most influential chefs in the United States, opening numerous restaurants and launching the hospitality company ThinkFoodGroup. He gained national recognition through television appearances and cooking programs that showcased Spanish culinary traditions and innovative cuisine. 

Beyond the kitchen, Andrés is a successful television personality who co-hosts NBC’s new cooking competition, Yes, Chef! alongside Martha Stewart. He previously hosted Made in Spain on PBS and Vamos a Cocinar in Spain, and starred in José Andrés & Family in Spain on Discovery+. He is also a humanitarian, known for founding  World Central Kitchen, which has since served hundreds of millions of meals in disaster zones worldwide.
